The consultation that Becky holds with clients to discover the right information to create a fabulous CV (and/or supporting documents) also serves as excellent preparation for interviews!
This is because it involves exploring in detail the value you've brought to companies.
Due to people rarely speaking with friends and family about the intricacies of our jobs, the consultation is often the first time clients articulate certain facets of their roles and outcomes. In doing so, they can find the right words, the right points to concentrate on and the right ways to tackle their job searches, applications and interviews.
Furthermore, combining the above with having these outcomes detailed accurately and pleasingly on their CVs often helps clients feel far happier and more positive about the future.
This all leads, of course, to increased success in interviews - as demonstrated in our reviews and feedback.
We establish achievements, understand the 'hows' and the outcomes (statistics), and also the challenges you experienced and how you overcame them. This all demonstrates just how capable you are.
Some of the questions Becky asks will be very similar to the types of questions interviewers (or application forms) can pose. She will continually try to ascertain key achievements (and challenges) in your roles and this is great practice for a) thinking about them, often in a new way and b) articulating them - always in a new way!
We can establish the ideal scenarios (experiences from your roles) to demonstrate your best self to employers - and how to express them - before you get to the interview. You will have these scenarios safely and confidently in your 'back pocket'.
Becky always (in an ideal world) is seeking quantitative data (e.g., increased customer satisfaction by 30%) but it's not always quantifiable and clients may not know the answer - and this is fine. She will gently probe until hearing that that's not possible and will be more than happy with the answer that you're capable of giving.
Interviewers can ask you to lay scenarios out in the STAR format: Situation, Task, Action and Result. As a seasoned career consultant, Becky consistently follows this pattern in her questioning - seeking to understand the background, what needed doing, what you then did, and what the results were.
The natural flow of the consultation is perfect preparation for interviews.
Focused Interview Prep Time in the Consultation
If you would like specific attention given to creating STAR responses to a number of questions (guiding you on writing) let Becky know and we can allot an extra 30 minutes to the call at a fee of just £20. If you would like her to write out some STAR-based answers, this would involve both the time to talk about them and time to write them - the price would depend on the number of STAR answers but you could base your assumption of the price on £40 per hour.
